I was looking for a travel coffee maker for a recent ski vacation (fellow travelers were all de-caf people) and this one fit all my requirements. After your first pour, you can immediately prepare your second cup and it will be the perfect temperature when you are ready for it. It is compact, stainless steel, non breakable, easy to use and makes and surprisingly made a terrific, clean cup of coffee. The thermal feature is great. I will pack this french press for many trips. Do I wish it was a little bigger -- yeah maybe, but my initial requirement was for it to be compact for packing -- sometimes you just can please your own self.ski girl
Just the right size for one person or friends who drop in and very modern looking. Does not show fingerprints like expected especially being that it is not brushed stainless.
I loved the simplistic appeal, but I can't figure out the creamer. The cover keeps falling into into the milk.
cup; 12 oz might be the volume of the chamber, but if you stop an inch short of the spout as recommended, and once you consider the volume of coffee and plunger, you get about 8 oz. If you like great big mugs of coffee, you should get the larger size, though.
One drawback is that in order to get this fullness, the coffee needs to steep a few minutes, (Bodum recommends 4) and in that time, in a typical uninsulated French press, the coffee cools down a bit. French press coffee is known for its full, rich flavor.
I've been using it at home for a couple months now and will never go back to drip coffee, as this extracts way more flavor from the beans. Bodum has solved this problem by creating a thermos that looks like a fine piece of stainless table ware.
I was so impressed when I first encountered one of these at a cafe, that I immediately looked for one to buy. This is perfect for an 8-oz.
per brew.
I bought this french press for work and it's the perfect size for one cup of coffee. It's sturdy and is made well. I have broken a lot of glass French presses so this perfect for those of you who are a bit rougher on your press pots.
